Annual Surveys

Aralam has a long history of conducting annual surveys with the involvement of nature enthusiasts from various fields. This helps for better monitoring and thereby protection of the rare and endangered species. By the tremendous efforts from forest department staff and nature enthusiasts from different NGOs like Malabar Natural History Society and other institutions like KFRI, sanctuary has been organizing and evaluating the yearly monitoring of fauna and flora since 2000. Aralam Wildlife Sanctuary is the only protected area which has a long-term data on butterflies and birds. “Butterfly Diversity of Aralam Wildlife Sanctuary” (2016) is published from the sanctuary which comprises the results of butterfly surveys done during the last decade. By conducting these surveys, sanctuary is providing a platform for nature enthusiasts and students to explore and learn more about the wildlife around.

Survey notifications will be updated in the website according to the yearly plans of the sanctuary.
