As per the surveys conducted in the sanctuary, a total of 54 species of mammals under 21 families occur in Aralam. Of these, six species are endemic to the Western Ghats and they include the rare and endangered Travancore flying squirrel, Dusky palm squirrel, Malabar spiny dormouse and Nilgiri marten. Aralam wildlife sanctuary perhaps holds one among the most abundant population of rare Malabar Slender Loris. The most common mammal in the sanctuary is the Malabar giant squirrel. Frequent sightings of the Tiger & Leopard have been reported from the sanctuary. Other mammals like Black-footed grey langur, Elephants, Sambar deer, Spotted deer, Barking deer, Mouse deer, Wild dogs, Jungle cats, Sloth bears, Brown mongoose, Stripe-necked mongoose, Ruddy mongoose, Small clawed otter are also found here.
